Sweet Beginnings

Life Savers are introduced to the world.
Chocolate maker Clarence Crane wanted a sweet
treat that could stand up to the summer heat,
and what he created was the original Pep O Mint®
flavor. He called them Life Savers because they
looked like little life preservers.

1913

Edward’s Roll

Edward Noble founds the Life Savers Candy
Company and begins using the iconic tin foil roll
pack that we all know and love.

1935

Fab Five

The three original hard candy flavors of
Lemon, Lime and Orange are joined by
Cherry and Pineapple to create the famed
Five Flavor Life Savers roll.

1938

Butter Rum

The classic Butter Rum flavor joins
the Life Savers line up.

1942-1945

Giving Back

During World War II, the Armed Forces are
supplied with 23 million boxes of Life Savers.
Rolls of Life Savers are packed into American G.I.'s
field ration kits as a reminder of home.

1950

Just a Nickel

Life Savers becomes a favorite treat for
children on tight allowance budgets with their
"Still only 5 cents" slogan. What a deal.

1974

Life Savers Pops

Life Savers launches a unique lollipop featuring
the famous ring-shape. The treat would go on
to be named "Life Savers Pops."'

1990

Life Savers Holes

Life Savers Holes hit the market,
filling the tiny void at the center of
everyone's favorite candy.

1992

Gummies Get Going

Life Savers goes gummy!
Life Savers Gummi Savers are
introduced in three varieties: Grape,
Mixed Berry and Five Flavor.

1994

New Packaging

Life Savers find a new place to
hang out - the peg bag.

1995

Sugar Free

Sugar-free, but sweet as ever, Life Savers
Delites are added to the family of
flavors. Delites live on under the name
Sugar Free Life Savers and are available
in both mints and hard candies.

2001

Pucker Up

Life Savers Kickerz are introduced,
something special for all those fans who
like a little sour to go with their sweet. You
might recognize these candies by their
current name, Life Savers Sours.

2003

The People’s Choice

Life Savers announces plans to add Blackberry
to the classic Five Flavor roll. Life Savers fans
rise up and demand their classic Orange flavor
back. The people have spoken.

2004

Life Savers joins the Wrigley family.

2012

100 Years

Life Savers celebrates
their 100th Anniversary!
